November: Fall Continued or Hello Holidays?
Happy weekend, readers!
Halloween has come and gone and with it, another season of great spooky reads!
In case you missed it, here’s a round-up of what I read this fall:
My Best Friend’s Exorcism review (this season’s fav!)
Coming soon: Fang Fiction review
Not featured: The Dead Romantics review (tl;dr I was underwhelmed) and Spells for Forgetting (DNF’d around 25% in because I was bored).
As I welcome November, I’m confronting a familiar question: Is November best served as an extension of fall reading, or is it time to embrace holiday reads?
Of course, there’s not a right answer to this question (similar to when I pontificated about when exactly does fall start a few weeks ago).
Truthfully, I think you can’t go wrong either way! November tends to be a gloomy month where I live which feels fitting for spooky and mysterious stories; but this month can also serve as an opportune time to starting reading holiday books to begin embracing the holiday season.
Last year, I raced into holiday reading and Christmas decorating a little too early and felt burnt out by the time Christmas actually arrived. This year, I plan to ease my way into the holiday waters.
I’ll likely read a thriller and perhaps another witchy read in the early days of November, and will save my holiday books for later in the month (I’ll also be fast approaching my due date, so, really, all bets are off!)
Throughout this month, I’ll start sharing some holiday reading inspiration and bookish gift ideas (because we bookworms know that books make the best gifts), so stay tuned!
Until next time,
Lain
