The Flavor of Fall

Happy weekend, readers!

I’m fully embracing the fall vibes this weekend and I have to say, it’s pairing nicely with my urge to nest! We’re about to break out the fall decor and comfy blankets because it’s time to cozy up. And in honor of Friday the 13th, my friend and I met up for a coffee + book shopping date and I ordered my first iced PSL of the season. This got me wondering,

What truly is the flavor of fall?

We all see the memes and hear the jokes about pumpkin flavored everything this time of year. But is pumpkin truly the best, most fitting flavor for fall? What about apple? Or pecan? Or I’m sure maple would like to have a word?

Obviously this comes down to personal preference. I love a pumpkin flavored pastry but I do feel like we’ve given pumpkin too much attention. Pumpkin spice trash bags? (I’m not joking, this is a real thing!) I personally am all about apples this year, specifically Honeycrisp apples! I mean, the versatility alone is impressive and the variety of pairing options is seemingly endless. Consider this my petition for apple to take pumpkin’s crown this year!

Jokes aside, let’s recap what I’ve been consuming lately:

Reading: I recently finished my first two fall TBR reads, THE SATURDAY NIGHT GHOST CLUB and CACKLE, and I’d highly recommend both for the season. Reviews to come! I’m keeping the witchy vibes going with my current read, PRACTICAL MAGIC.

Watching: Lately, my husband and I are very into the show, Evil on Netflix. I’m clearly on a cozy horror kick between that show and my recent reads! We also just finished The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives on Hulu and wow, my DMs are open if y’all want to discuss the chaos of that one.

Listening: More The Bad Broadcast and Book Talk, etc., of course. I’ve started revisiting my Cardigan Weather playlist on Apple Music and it’s definitely helping enhance the fall vibes. This weekend, I started THE MYSTERY GUEST on audio and I’m liking it so far!

Loving, Lately: Lately, I’m loving planning gardening projects! Doing the gardening and executing the plans…that’s a different story. We have hopes of maybe finally starting our vegetable garden this fall/winter but with a baby on the way, we may be in over our heads! Until we commit to making it happen, I’ll just be keeping up with my Pin-spiration.

Until next weekend,

Lain
